• Familiarity with modern agile development methodologies and test-driven, component-oriented iterative development practices.
• Ability to work on in a multi-discipline teams that include product managers, UE designers, project managers and quality engineers.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills

Technical Skills:
• Expertise with Java, JDK1.4/1.5, J2SE, J2EE, J2ME, Java hotspot, Apache, Tomcat.
• OO design and programming in a Java and C++
• Open source development: Ant, Eclipse, Emacs, CVS, Linux.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with multiple people and departments.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a strong Senior Software Engineer who will be responsible for developing the Java Virtual Machine for our groundbreaking pentop platform. This person will be responsible for all aspects of the Java runtime environment – customizing and tuning the JVM to address performance issues, manage resources and develop runtime services for our unique platform requirements. Prior experience developing and/or customizing JVMs for a resource constrained platform is essential as is an excellent knowledge of both Java and C.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, modify, and tune the JVM to perform optimally for a RTOS, ARM9 based pentop computer.
• Identify and tune performance bottlenecks.
• Provide resource management and runtime capabilities for our unique platform requirements.
• Provide interfaces to the display, and audio subsystems and the underlying RTOS.
• Provide functional test software for quality assurance and possibly manufacturing.

Required Qualifications:
• 7 or more years of experience with Java programming. 5 or more years of experience with C.
• Experience developing and customizing Java Virtual Machines in a J2ME environment.
• Strong understanding of operating systems theory – resource management, prioritization, thread management, event management, etc.
• Knowledge of GCC tool chain, Linux, RTOS, Signal Processing, and file systems a plus.
• Use of good software design practices, patterns, and tools.
• BA/BS or higher in Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

What Not to Do on Your Résumé

January 1, 2007 - Whether you're interested in becoming a branch manager or considering a jump into private wealth management, your résumé and cover letter will play a key role in landing that all-important interview. Avoiding a few common mistakes on these two-to-three pages--along with displaying proper interviewing skills and making follow-ups--could just land you that dream job. On the other hand, using poor grammar, not knowing your audience, applying the past tense instead of the present and writing "I" six zillion times will--more often than not--get your letter and résumé deleted, or sometimes even worse.

I have taken a look at the infamous Aleksey Vayner video résumé, which has been talked about on various Internet blogs and daytime talk shows. If you haven't seen the video--which shows Vayner performing feats such as weightlifting, tennis and dancing, voiced-over by a seemingly never-ending lecture on success and successful people--check it out on YouTube.
