The Product Development Manager will be involved in creating and enhancing new music downloadable products. We need you to execute a vision while providing creative and technical input. To do this, you’ll lead and coordinate timeline, scope, issues and deliverables associated with handset, service provisioning, network systems, back office operations, and product delivery. This role will manage cross-functional business, technology and vendor teams. To thrive and succeed you’ll need amazing people skills and be able to rebound from push back with fortitude. We want you to help us not do things the hard way just because no one brought an easier way to our attention. Be the implementation expert that can take a step back and think: "So, how would we actually deliver this fantastic idea? Oh, and if one idea doesn’t work, here are fifty other back up plans.” Okay, we confess this is going to be a challenge!
Here’s the scoop:
• Identify, articulate and document functional project requirements for business, IT and vendor audiences.
• Identify critical success factors for project implementation and define project scope.
• Follow a pre-defined project management approach to manage and control one or multiple work stream efforts, including issue identification and management functions.
• Maintain issue lists and project plans.
• Provide periodic progress report to communicate project status.
• Lead meetings to coordinate work and resolve problems.
• Anticipate problems including delays and cost overruns.
• Promote and manage cross-functional communication and collaboration.

This is an extremely dynamic business, which has to operate in an environment that must plan far in advance. Deadlines are critical, and there is a lot of coordination and impeccable organization required. There are many internal stakeholders on music services, and a lot of eyes on this space. It is a high pressure environment that can be both extremely rewarding and frustrating, and this person will need to be able to handle it.
A passion for music is the starting point for what you’ll need to land this role. Bring 3-5 years of project management experience from a highly matrixed environment with you. Technical knowledge and documentation experience or advanced development experience for networked devices and services is needed. A self starter who knows or is willing to learn MS Project is a person who’ll catch our attention.
It’s a plus if you’ve got database knowledge, understanding of technology used to deliver digital formats/wireless handsets and familiarity with digital media formats and Digital Rights Management (DRM) schemes.
You should be detail oriented, have diligent work ethic, be personable, and be able to handle things that are not always clearly defined and laced with the occasional curveball. You must be able to successfully scope and organize chaos if it hits. You need to be able to work with a variety of personalities and demand excellence without offending anyone. A strong backbone is needed. Finally, you must be able to identify and describe detailed functional requirements from sometimes abstract briefs, manage large projects across teams with technical subject matter expertise – and not be afraid to step on some toes and be aggressive when called for -- deep project knowledge will be key.
