Android Developer

Major areas of responsibility include the following:
• Rapid prototyping of mobile applications in cooperation with marketing and product development teams
• Development of User Interfaces for mobile devices
• Development of client software for messaging and web-based applications
• Application pre-testing, porting and integration in extensive collaboration and interaction with other development teams such as UI designers, mobile requirements SMEs, software vendors and handset OEMs
• Cooperation with Hardware teams regarding software porting and testing
• Scouting of mobile applications market in the search of new innovative applications, software concepts and mobile technologies
• Passion for improving and perfecting mobile devices and mobile services

Qualifications:
• 5-plus years’ experience in mobile Java programming; experience in programming for Android a plus
• Experience in managing or participating in open source software development projects
• Familiarity with Flash Flash/Light, Windows Mobile, Symbian
• Knowledge of Mobile Internet Standardization. OMA, IETF and 3GPP
• Knowledge of development life cycle management and tools (version control, documentation)
• Familiarity with software architecture (embedded or open OS) for mobile and consumer electronics devices
• Familiarity with client server technologies and mobile networks: EDGE, UMTS, SMS, MMS, IMS, location and SynchML presence
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced and constantly changing work environment
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• MS or BS in Telecommunications Engineering, EE, Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to lead a team a plus

Mobile Software Developer (Products)
Product Development / Enabling Technologies

As a part of T-Mobile’s Product Development group, be a part of the team responsible for programming for our new next generation mobile platforms which allow rapid prototyping, quicker time to market, easier software application development and customer driven innovation.

In addition to working with Product Development and Marketing on rapid development of mobile applications, you will design and build rich graphical user interfaces for mobile devices and develop software to bring services such as messaging and the web to consumer handsets. You will collaborate with UI designers, mobile product SMEs, software vendors and handset OEMs on application pre-testing, porting and integration.

Major areas of responsibility include the following:
• Design and implement software applications for the flexible Next Generation mobile platform.
• Support handset OEMs in the integration, test and evaluation of Next Generation mobile platform applications. Perform acceptance testing procedures.
• Develop and document software design specifications.
• Act as SME and Next Generation platform point of contact for application development.
• Assist with requirements gathering and analysis for future generation mobile software platforms.
• Design and implement application solutions that bring to life T-Mobile’s brand promise such as MyFaves.

Qualifications:
• Passion and drive for building world-class applications with rich “wow” GUIs.
• Solid ability to write modular object-oriented or well-structured procedural code.
• Minimum 3-4 years experience with Flash ActionScript 1.x or 2.x required. Experience with FlashLite highly preferred.
• Experience with C/C++, Java, J2ME a plus.
• Familiarity with the Android development SDK and platform a plus.
• Please note that this is a software developer position, NOT a graphics design position.
• Understanding of embedded software architecture for consumer electronics devices.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) management. Familiarity with formal SDLC methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, RUP) a plus.
• Familiarity with build/release processes and software source code control systems a plus.
• Experience in mobile or software development industries preferred.
• Some familiarity with GSM/GPRS client/server architecture, supplementary services, SMS, MMS, and WAP, a plus.
• Understanding of the capabilities of low MIPS processors (ARM 7, ARM9, ARM11) using real time operating systems a plus.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, highly-interactive, and constantly changing work environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of computer graphics rendering and algorithms a plus.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, EE, or equivalent experience required.

Product / Service Design Engineer, Product Development / Service Architecture

As a part of T-Mobile’s Product Development group be a part of the team responsible for our new mobile phone client/server architectures which allow rapid prototyping, quicker time to market, easier software application development and customer driven innovation.

Major areas of responsibility include the following:
• Define requirements for GSM/3G data/voice services and related platforms and infrastructure elements
• Define specifications for handsets/handset clients to support new services
• Partner and work with Engineering and IT in order to develop and roll out new services.
• Work with vendors in order to define product architecture as well as product requirements.
• Recommend new technology directions in extensive collaboration and interaction with other development teams such as UI designers, mobile requirements SMEs, software vendors, and handset OEMs.
• Define strategic direction for product roadmap across a broad range of handset technologies including Open OS/Android, Java Virtual Machine, OMA SynchML DM and DS, Presence, etc.
• Develop and document concisely written requirements and use-cases.

Qualifications:
• Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture concepts.
• Understanding of XCAP/XDMS/RESTful APIs, as well as SOAP/WSDL.
• Understanding of Web 2.0 technologies (AJAX/javascript).
• Good understanding of GSM/GPRS client/server architecture, supplementary services, SMS, MMS, and WAP.
• Understanding of IMS/SIP, JSR116
• Knowledge of Mobile Internet Standardization. OMA, IETF & 3GPP.
• Effective planning and resource management of technology projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective presentation skills.
