Stats on Podcasting
Podcast usage is growing by leaps and bounds.
Listenship is doubling every 3-4 months.
ITG Group says that almost 60 million people will have listened to a podcast by 2010.
Apple says it shipped more than 21 million iPods in the last quarter of 2006 – over 88 million in 1st 5 years.
Just about every college kid has one these days.
Suffice to say podcasting is become main stream not just for listening to music.
What is Jobs in Pods?
Essentially a marketing tool for employers that advertises your jobs and promotes your employment brand through audio podcast interviews – aka Jobcasts
These interviews are conducted over the phone by Jobs in Pods with member of your HR staff or other employees and then published online.
During the interview we ask questions that job seekers want answers to.
Questions like:
What's it like to work there?
What kinds of perks do you offer?
What types of projects will I be working on?
We’ll also ask you to describe your current openings and tell us what your ideal candidate is like and how to apply.
The podcasts are published online in variety of ways to maximize their exposure.
1. on jobsinpods.com (which is a blog, search engine friendly, rss feeds)
2. on iTunes
3. on other Podcast directories like Podcast Alley
4. ability to display on your company career page
The podcasts never expire so they are always working to promote your jobs and company.
Companies such as Microsoft and Accenture have already been jobcasting
for over a year
Why Do It?
Recruiting is marketing.
Its getting harder for companies to recruit. The next generation workforce is on the way – the iPod generation.
If you are going to recruit them you are going to have to do so in ways that will intrigue and engage them…beyond what the traditional text job description offers.
By podcasting your jobs you are give your jobs a voice – humanizing your company.
Jobcasting – lets you establish relationships with passive job seekers and allow you to connect to them on a 1 to 1 level.
Remember this is permission marketing – the person who does listen to a jobcast, chooses to do so. And that person is typically a younger, more web savy individual.
“PR for HR”
A strategic marketing tool for the next generation of recruiting.
Best part is we do all the work, no web site to learn, nothing to log into, no technical knowledge needed.
All the employer has to do is pick up the phone and answer the questions. We do the rest.
