An entrepreneurial self-starter, this individual is responsible for sales revenue and bottom line results of Universal Music Canada’s digital business. They will develop and oversee the digital team including strategy development and leading new and existing strategic partnership opportunities and initiatives. They must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have a good “pulse” on the digital market, competitive landscape and the music industry.
— Assume the lead role in further developing Universal Music Canada’s digital business.
— Define and recruit the team necessary to continue Universal’s leadership role in the digital space.
— Work with your team to:
— Develop our go forward digital strategy.
— Cultivate and maintain relationships with complementary technology and marketing partners.
— Match integrated marketing strategies with delivery concepts for all digital experiences and environments.
— Manage Universal’s mobile music initiatives with current and emerging wireless technologies and platforms.
— Work closely with our current digital download partners to ensure maximum exposure through all viable opportunities.
— Manage Universal’s overall relationships with digital sales accounts and work closely with Universal’s Marketing and Operations departments to maximize sales in all new digital formats.
— Responsible for business development opportunities and evaluating potential business partners. This includes working closely with Universal Music Group’s new media and technologies divisions in the US and Europe.
— Responsible for strategic licensing and distribution of Universal content to various third parties and for developing Universal’s internet strategy for future technology application and business models.
— Act with Business Affairs as lead negotiator in structuring deals that will drive digital revenue and develop Universal Canada’s eCommerce business strategy.
— Disciplined self-starter with 8+ years in a digital/music environment.
— Music industry experience is an asset.
— Strong technical, creative and business acumen – results and execution oriented.
— Able to build relationships with sophisticated partners within the digital space to maximize and close new opportunities.
— Track record of exceeding new business revenue targets.
— Able to formulate, write and communicate our value, strategy and proposed opportunities with new/existing partners.
— A demonstrated ability to work in a highly entrepreneurial setting where ‘many hats’ must be worn and action needs to be taken quickly.
— Team player, strong work ethic, results-oriented, flexible, patient and adaptable; persuasive and diplomatic.
— A solid understanding of the digital download market, mobile entertainment products (master tones, ringbacks, video clips, etc.), internet marketing and web site development, including content management, e-commerce, electronic/viral marketing, portals, etc.
