Sales – Senior Sales Engineer – Mobile / Wireless Services Infrastructure
Ortiva Wireless is looking for a Sales – Senior Sales Engineer (SE) to provide technical expertise, project management, installation and testing, and customer relationship support to Ortiva’s field sales efforts. This position requires both strong technical acumen and people interaction skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to foster strong customer relationships through exceptional customer service and a deep understanding of Ortiva’s technology, products and the overall market ecosystem.
The Senior Sales Engineer will be an integral part of Ortiva’s sales organization, supporting technical software sales efforts for the sales team. The successful candidate will provide pre-sales support including technical presentations, product demonstrations, on-site beta test and trial support, basic network and product troubleshooting, and be the field expert on the company’s product capabilities, features and technology. The candidate may also be involved in the initial phases of production roll out. The candidate must have hands on experience working with and supporting server based software products in the networking industry and must have a track record of successful interaction with wireless/wireline carriers or Fortune 100 accounts. Experience with web and streaming server solutions and content delivery networks is highly desirable. A working knowledge of Linux server operation, installation and applications is a must and a thorough understanding of wireless and wireline network protocols and operations is a plus. The ideal candidate has both domestic and international experience.
Responsibilities
• Perform pre-sales technical support for the Ortiva sales team, assisting in identifying, selling and closing sales opportunities; including determining product fit to customer needs.
• Successfully present and demonstrate Ortiva’s products, technology, and solutions to prospective and existing customers.
• Install and support product beta / trial versions and ensure technical success of the product evaluation phase.
• Work effectively with other internal departments to communicate customer requirements and needs to Ortiva product management and associated responses back to Customer, including getting appropriate Company resources involved as needed.
• Work closely with sales personnel to close orders and hit revenue targets.
• Review and provide feedback on outbound product documentation and collateral.
• Assist with technical responses for product / solution proposals to customers.
Required Key Skills and Experience
• 4+ years experience in a Pre-sales role with a successful track record in the complex pre-sales process, preferably in server based web infrastructure or mobile services software solution selling.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively present to a wide range of audiences, including an ability to communicate technical ideas clearly, effectively and convincingly through presentations and demos.
• Ability to understand and comprehend the complexities associated with various web and streaming infrastructures in order to provide product comparisons and make appropriate recommendations.
• Strong history of playing an active role working with customers and internal resources to deploy a product.
• Self starter (works well with limited guidance), with high energy and a “can do” attitude.
• Must be a team player.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Undergraduate engineering degree: CS or EE or very similar technical degree
Strongly Desired Skills – One or more of the below makes for an Ideal Candidate
• Familiarity with media servers or related products and installing /configuring Apache web servers.
• Experience deploying, supporting, and demonstrating server based products for wireless networks.
• Familiarity with Linux based server products, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Experience configuring products on Windows and other OSs including Solaris a plus.
• Knowledge of Mobile TV, Mobile Video, Mobile Web and other Mobile Content
• Knowledge of Wireless Networks and Services, such as GPRS, UMTS, EDGE, EVDO, 1xRTT, CDMA, GSM, etc.
Other Skills/Abilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
• Previous experience designing and producing production software
