Rave Wireless is seeking an experienced, hands-on QA Director with strong technical skills to lead a team of test engineers in delivering world-class services testing the performance, reliability, scalability, and functionality of a mobile and Web-based location-based service for consumers. You will define test strategy, execute test plans, review test & product specifications, define/select appropriate test tools and automation strategy, and build a strong team to deliver a high quality product. You will work closely with Development, Product Management, and Operations teams to test and roll out product and infrastructure releases.
A successful candidate will have a strong track record of leveraging automation, developing new automated test suites, evaluating test coverage, performance benchmarking, providing high-quality feedback on the state of the product, and building strong relationships with other teams. Strong management, mentoring, and communication skills are a must.
Requirements:
Passion for QA, including an ability to successfully evangelize QA principles with senior management outside of the QA management hierarchy.
5+ years experience in managing a QA team with 2-5+ team members in various stages of the business and the software life cycle, with strong results in all phases.
Ability to recruit, mentor, and retain high-quality talent; building and maintaining teams with high morale.
Ability to facilitate departmental review of standards and practices, to incorporate quality, efficiency, and usability into development and process standards. Ensures proper documentation of standards across departmental teams.
5+ years experience of proven track record testing Internet-based and/or mobile services that are well regarded for their quality, scale and stability.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage test plan/test case development, bug identification, and tracking for a number of concurrent, large, and complex projects.
Solid understanding of each of the major testing types comprising a test cycle including functional, system/integration, regression, error handling, performance, and load/stress testing.
Strong hands-on experience in designing, developing and implementing a variety of testing tools, techniques and methodologies, including automated (front and backend) testing.
Familiarity with:
All Microsoft Windows operating systems (MAC OS 9/X and Linux OS platforms are a plus).
Leading browser software, including the latest versions of IE and Netscape.
Client/server/database architecture.
Relational databases.
Software Test Development automated tools and/or scripting languages such as shell scripting or Perl.
Network security technologies, protocols, standards (e.g. SSL, FIPS).
Internet-related technologies including plug-ins, client operating systems, TCP/IP and network programming.
Development technologies including HTML, CSS, ASP, VB, COM, and Java.
Mobile technologies (WML, WAP, BREW, J2ME) is a plus.
Demonstrated record of strong communication, written and verbal, and ability to present programs at a senior level, both internally and externally.
Demonstrated examples of raising project issues and risks, with helpful resolution strategies for more senior managers to make informed, accurate decisions among available choices.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This job will require working with Product Management to understand and plan project schedules, priorities and resource needs.
