The Associated Press seeks a sales executive for AP Digital in New York.
This position is responsible for prospecting and closing deals with companies distributing content on broadband channels and iTV. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating leads, managing existing accounts and expanding business opportunities in this market segment. In this position, this person will work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff including internal senior management, staff and external strategic business partner contacts.
Responsibilities include: Developing and cultivating leads from the sales pipeline; Meeting annual revenue goals according to sales plan; Managing existing accounts; and pursuing up-sell opportunities; Assessing potential business deals, negotiate favorable terms, and acquiring prospect commitment; Constructing deals within selling guidelines (product offerings, pricing, etc.) established by management; Assisting in business implementation of sales package; Displaying a thorough understanding of assigned target industries and company’s competitive advantages.
The job requires the candidate to have the ability to assist the Director of Business Development in defining and identifying potential sales targets. This job requires approximately 25 percent travel. A bachelor’s degree is preferred; 3-5 years sales experience is required – preferably in interactive media. Knowledge of the interactive TV industry is desirable. The candidate should have a proven track record of sales success. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, and succinct presentation skills to prospects at all decision-making levels are required.
