Java Developer

Location: London

Position Summary

Working for the Development Manager, the role consists of designing, developing, delivering and maintaining enterprise grade mobile applications for our business clients. The developer will be required to communicate his/her expertise for assigned projects and display skills for leading technical discussions, managing the decision-making process and assisting in implementation of solutions. Code ownership and a proactive mentality are essential.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain enterprise quality applications based on business requirements from the Product Managers
• Quickly become the owner of one or more components of the modular platform architecture
• Work with the project managers to deliver new functionality/applications on time and ready for production roll-out
• Assist the Operations team with roll-out of new functionality/applications
• Provide 3rd line support for the production systems
• Interact with other engineers and managers within the development team to ensure that the overall architecture is optimal to meet the business requirements
• When required, liaise with clients and operator development & operation teams

Requirements

Advance knowledge of the following:

• J2EE (Servlets), Multithreading
• SQL/JDBC
• XML
• OO Design

Knowledge of some or all of the following:

• Source control (Perforce/CVS/Subversion)
• Web Services (SOAP, WSDL, XML-RPC)
• Tomcat, Apache, Linux
• JSP
• XSL
• J2ME
• PHP

At least three years commercial experience of some or all of the above, with the ability to clearly communicate ideas, contributes to technical discussions, and implement solutions. Code ownership and a proactive mentality are essential.
