Java / C++ Developer
A Philadelphia company develops consumer and enterprise applications that are delivered via wireless carriers. Our vision is to fundamentally change the way people get information about the world around them, and we need brilliant programmers and developers to make that a reality. Taking many forms of data fuels the company: text, video, voice and photos- into a spatial database and delivering them to mobile devices, based on the actual physical location and interest of the user.
Critical Experience You Must Have:
Strong problem solving skills, excellent coding & debugging skills, a proven track record of delivering solid solutions, and a passion for learning new technologies and writing good code. Must have the ability to work independently and research innovative solutions. Needs to support multiple concurrent projects and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Build enterprise-class client/server applications.
•Design and development of server-side components for networked applications.
•Porting, integration, updating, and maintenance of existing mobile applications.
•Design and development of core engineering features, libraries, engines, and components for platform-independent mobile applications.
Required:
•BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent is required.
•Solid in-depth knowledge and background developing and designing data-driven distributed web-applications, using Java, JSP, and SQL (especially Oracle). using J2EE (JDBC, JNI, EJB, JSP, XML, JMS SOAP), SQL Server, Oracle, MS Access
•Strong Object Oriented programming expertise, particularly in C++/ and/or Java. required. You must know what it means to write reliable, well designed, and above all, readable code in ANY language.
•Experience with application servers such as JBoss, Weblogic and Web servers such and TOMCAT and web-servers, particularly Apache.
•A strong background in Unix, particularly RedHat/Linux.
•Experienced with Java, JavaScript, C++, VBscript, Visual basic 6.0, XML, XSL and DHTML.
•Strong ability to write bug-free code on aggressive schedules is required.
•Application and system performance, threading issues, bottleneck identification.
•Knowledge of the mobile development environment (Brew and/or J2ME) and handsets is a definite plus.
•Knowledge of embedded programming in general is a definite plus.
