That’s where you come in. HELIO is looking for a Manager of Terminal Technology and Trend Analysis
The position of Manager of Terminal Technology and Trend Analysis will be primarily concerned with researching wireless emerging technologies, preparing competitive analysis. In addition, this position will be responsible for managing the technology roadmap, developing technology assessments and strategies that will serve as input to technology selection.
This position will supervise no direct reports, and will report in to the Sr. Manager of Terminal Engineering.
Position Duties / Responsibilities:
Working with the service team to conduct proof of concept testing
Analyze and assess alignment between terminal engineering and service team roadmaps
Leading the evaluation of third party technologies on the handset
Leading the long term strategic plan for the terminal engineering roadmap
Preparing case studies for internal research reports and newsletters
Creating technical strategies for deploying technology on the mobile terminal
Documenting and communicating project status to executive management
Key Experience / Education Requirements:
Requires at least 6 years of technical/engineering experience with a wireless carrier in a research role, or wireless handset OEM working on future development initiatives.
Must be familiar with CDMA, 1xRTT, EV-DO voice and its data standards and also data networking with TCP/IP.
Experience with writing technical documents and or technical writing.
Familiarity with emerging technologies such as DRM, NFC, Biometrics, WIFI, Device Management, Mesh Networking, WiMax, Wireless Audio/Video streaming, and Video Conferencing as well as other emerging technologies
Experience writing and managing business and technical requirements, developing strategies and technical roadmaps for new products
Demonstrated understanding of messaging protocols (SMS, MMS), WAP, push/pull models, OTA provisioning systems etc
Experience in developing executive presentations, vendor assessments/comparisons and technical strategy documents as it relates to the mobile device
Tenacity to work through difficult technical problems
Excellent communications skills and ability to clearly communicate recommendations with rationale
Ability to work in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment
This position requires a four-year degree, as well as an advanced technical degree or equivalent experience.
