That’s where you come in. HELIO is looking for a Terminal Project Manager
The position of Terminal Project Manager will be primarily concerned with managing major wireless handset development programs incorporated with client application development. This individual will be responsible for consistently managing the product development from scoping and requirements gathering, through definition and technical negotiation with vendors, to installation and testing of solutions into operating environment.
This position will supervise no direct reports, and will report in to the Director of Project Management within the Terminal Engineering team.
Position Duties / Responsibilities:
Work with Project Management, consolidate product requirements into a format that can be translated into technical requirements for the OEMs
Project planning: Product requirement consolidation, prioritization & Service roadmap: Consolidate & prioritize service features on Service Roadmap
Analyze and assess alignment between Product and Service roadmaps
Participate in the design phase of project initiative for the purpose of understanding the business requirements, identifying resource requirements for the development cycle.
Lead in developing technical specifications including various interfaces for handset customizations.
Evaluate and recommend handset-related third party software platforms, solutions and applications.
Interface with developers of handset OEM vendors and of an affiliated wireless carrier. Support and collaborate with other internal groups from a handset development to its launching effort.
Communicate OEM feedback regarding status and feasibility of product development efforts to internal teams
Assist with long-term, strategic planning for product and service roadmaps
Serve as a project manager when required to coordinate activities among various internal teams
Key Experience / Education Requirements:
Requires at least 6 years technical/engineering experience in data-capable handset product development with wireless carriers/operators or handset OEMs. 2-3 years of experience in Development Project Management, or strong interaction with such teams
Must be familiar with CDMA, 1xRTT, EV-DO voice and its data standards and also data networking with TCP/IP.
Requires principal knowledge and/or working experience with technical disciplines such as Java/J2ME, SMS, MMS, DRM, LBS, WAP browser, Device Management, security of wireless devices, Audio and Video standards for mobiles, and supplementary wireless connectivity (Bluetooth, WiFi, IR).
Experience writing and managing business and technical requirements, developing strategies and technical roadmaps for new products.
Experience in wireless handset and client application development as a program manager or project manager.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle
Must have excellent documentation and communications skills.
Experience in issue resolution and risk mitigation strategies
Intense focus on details and execution excellence, with outstanding organization, project management, and process engineering skills
This position requires a four-year degree, as well as an advanced technical/business degree or equivalent experience.
