Director of Wireless Device Strategy
This is a start-up, wireless product company – locally based. They have already procured 100 million in their first round of funding.
As device strategy director, you will be the point person for selecting and negotiating the procurement of their handsets. As a member of the operations team, you will tag team daily with their vice presidents of marketing, sales and product in choosing preferred vendors to appeal to our customers — and you will be responsible for holding these vendors accountable to deliver on time. You will take the lead role in actively working with the logistics and care managers to make sure that operations run flawlessly across the customer lifecycle. You will judge the business requirements and pick the right vendors accordingly. As a member of their early management team you will have tremendous say in defining your role and the execution of your responsibilities.
Your responsibilities:
You will choose and actively oversee handset OEMs, including contract negotiations and execution
You will lead a formal RFP process for vendors and be sure that the right departments in the organization are involved
You will create logistics procedures related to customer equipment
You will stay on top of our customers* changing preferences and desires, which means knowing and understanding tweens * kids roughly 8 to 12 years in age
Your qualifications:
You have a bachelor*s degree and at least 6 years of wireless handset contract negotiations and procurement experience
You have the proven knowledge that comes from working at a handset manufacturer
You must have hands-on experience in managing, purchasing and forecasting
Experience with J2ME, CDMA and GPSOne is a plus
Need to be able to resolve complex issues and problems at both commercial and operational levels
You have off-the-charts negotiation skills, especially with complex contractual OEM relationships
You have strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial startup environment
You must be able to create organization from chaos
