Director of Location Technology
The Director of Location Technology will be a key member of the management team, responsible for planning and driving R&D efforts for the Polaris WLS (Wireless Location Signatures) family of software products. Projects include extending the technology to new air interfaces (e.g., UMTS/WCDMA, CDMA2000, iDEN, WiFi), new location service applications (e.g., network optimization, traffic monitoring, surveillance, hybrid combinations with A-GPS and WiFi), and performance improvements (e.g., location accuracy, time to fix, reducing deployment/maintenance costs). The Director of Location Technology will work closely with counterparts in the engineering organization to mature the company’s development processes and be responsible for successful transitions of products from research into development.
Responsibilities include:
• Successfully plan, organize, staff and lead a location technology group, including algorithm engineers, systems engineers and location technologists
Education:
• MS degree (PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math or a closely relevant field is desired
Required Skills and Experience:
• At least 5 years experience leading research or development efforts in wireless or related technologies and will bring a reputation of credibility and integrity
Must have:
• Highly entrepreneurial and a strategic thinker with a track record of proven success in creating new technologies in the wireless market
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to:
o attract, build, and manager a strong R&D team
o listen, lead by example, and empower his/her organization
• In one or more of the following areas – outstanding technical
contributor and expertise in:
o Algorithm design (position location, power control, handover, Rake receiver, equalizer, beamforming)
o Wireless air interface protocols (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS/WCDMA, CDMA2000, iDEN, WiFi, WiMax)
o Position location methods (RSSI, TDOA, AOA, FDOA, triangulation, multilateration, GPS)
o Radiowave propagation modeling (Hata, COST-231, diffraction, clutter, ray tracing, GIS)
o Statistical methods (maximum likelihood estimation, robust statistics, Markov models, large margin classifiers and support vector machines, clustering, outlier detection)
