Education or Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree; plus three years related experience and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: electronics, electrical engineering, data processing, or a related field; plus three to four years progressively more responsible experience involving the provision of technical support in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of communications systems, including two years at a large scale communications facility. Prefer Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or registered professional Engineer in Arkansas.
Job Duties
The Senior Wireless Engineer serves as the primary subject matter expert in design, implementation, testing/acceptance and maintenance of wireless communication and network technologies for DIS and Arkansas state government. This position requires an expert level of knowledge of the entire wireless spectrum and of the media (Voice, Video, and Data) that is transported. This position also serves as the wireless planner for the State of Arkansas that includes the Arkansas Wireless Information Network (AWIN) which provides a statewide trunk IP based APCO P25 interoperable communications system to support the public safety/service users in Arkansas. This position requires the standard licenses and certification affiliated with wireless communications and technologies. The primary focus is to provide cost efficient/well maintained data, voice, and wireless, and video services to our customers including technical stability, application of converged technology, timely response to customer’s needs and in general creating customer satisfaction. Project Management/leadership skills will be required.
