The Senior Data Product Manager is responsible for designing, integrating, deploying and supporting data services for business customers including email, air cards, WAP content, and specialty data applications for designated industry sectors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops and executes comprehensive plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of the organization
• Analyzes technology trends and market demand for vertical industries
• Confers with management, operations, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility , cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing services
• Works with Engineering to develop capital budgets for new products
• Works with sales on PDA forecasting
• Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
• Creates business plans to achieve corporate objectives for products and services
• Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly
• Monitors wireless data industry trends
• Coordinates data product development, estimates of potential profits,
and release to production
• Provides technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development
• Involved in data customer care support projections, costing and training
• Participates in key sales situations for the product
• Provides continuing product surveillance and management of established product to obtain financial objectives
• Other duties as requested by management
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Management or other related technical degree required
• 5+ years experience in marketing and/or product development required
• 3+ years wireless experience required
• Experience developing and launching technical products for retail distribution required
• Workable technical knowledge of products such as wireless email, air cards, specialty B2B data applications (such as dispatch, remote order entry, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to be innovative and to bridge communication between technical, marketing, sales and care function
• Demonstrated ability to successfully launch new products in a timely fashion
• Customer oriented
• Ability to work with financial models to compute product profitability
• Proficient with the Internet, Project Management software, Excel and Word
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
